One of the constant questions in the Pittsburgh Brown Mama’s Private Facebook Group is, “Where can I find a good daycare in Pittsburgh?”  Well I like helping my mamas solve their problems.  So, you asked for it and here it is.  It would be impossible for me to list every childcare center in Pittsburgh.  Instead, I’ve created this list of black-owned childcare centers in Pittsburgh.  Just to be on the safe side, this list is not an endorsement of any center.  However, all of these daycares have been recommended by a mom from the Pittsburgh Brown Mamas group at one time or another.  As any #goodmama would do, please do your research and find out which child care center best suites your needs, lifestyle and parenting style before enrolling your child.  This list of black-owned daycares is a great place for you to start though.  So, read on my sistah.  Read on.

  • Hello. Blessed Assurance Christian Childcare Center is an amazing daycare. Both of my children go there. It is Keystone Stars certified and NAEYC accredited. They have both Head Start and Early Head Start programs. Owner/Operator and all staff are black. Linda Grinage (owner) is all about the growth and development of the children and the children are assessed on their learning path bi-annually. If there are any identifiable issues, she works to get specialists in for those kids to address their needs.

  • Hello! Thank you for taking the time to compile this list! Rainbow’s End Child Academy is a daycare and pre-school in Squirrel Hill owned by an African woman and has mostly African and African American teachers. We absolutely love it there! The culture and community at Rainbow’s End is amazing. The owner often plans events highlighting African dance, Misty Copeland, and local police. I consider the teachers and staff as part of our family. Special shout out to this awesome black owned business and these educators!
