Learning can happen anywhere and at anytime. Although this school year has been tough for many, there are still plenty of opportunities for our children to engage with one another, knowledgeable adults and the outside world.

Brown Mamas is trying it’s best to galvanize some of the resources our community has available for it’s first Learning Cooperative.

The Learning Cooperative will consist of knowledgeable Black parents, caregivers, teachers and educators taking on the need to provide right learning opportunities to our children.

Here’s what you need to know about the Brown Mamas Learning Cooperative.

  • From Sept. 16th – Nov. 20th, we will offer learning sessions in a variety of subjects.
  • Sessions will occur on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays of each week. Once you sign your child up, you will receive an email that links you to the Learning Cooperative calendar. There you can sign up for specific classes. We are still solidifying the time, but sessions will likely occur between 2-4 pm.
  • Parents MUST be present for in-person learning sessions. We are also encouraging parents to at least peek into the online learning sessions so that they might guide their children in connected learning opportunities later.

Our goal is to find out what your children enjoy the most, what learning opportunities are most beneficial to your family and how we can best spark the curiosity of all the humans involved.

This is our first time doing this, so please know there will be problems to solve. But, we invite you to be a part of the process as this is a cooperative.

Fall registration for the co-op has ended. However, we may have some openings for classes. Check out our calendar linked here to see if there are courses your family might be interested in. Email us at pittsburghchapterbrownmamas@gmail.com to find out about course openings.
