Description
Creative writing, improvisation and Black history all rolled up in one assignment. Have fun for up to a week creating new narratives for our Black future. This lesson plan for kids ages to 8-12 focuses on helping our children master Ourstory while simultaneously brushing up on their creative writing skills and presentation/public speaking skills. Each roll-a-story assignment gives kids a chance to choose a random Black historical figure, matched with a lively setting and melanin-relevant conflict. With every roll of the dice, kids will find themselves cast as a unique historical figure like Matt Henson (the first African-American in the North Pole) or Michelle Obama (the first African-American First Lady) in a different setting with a different conflict. This lesson plan also comes with a resource guide, writing pages for them to write their story and 3 roll-a-story boards. All you need is dice and to let the fun and learning begin.
