Brown Mamas has been supporting and championing the Black mothering experience for over a decade. Through community, content and events we seek to connect Black mothers to the people, experiences and spaces that help them raise happy, healthy adults and thrive beyond motherhood. Is it time to find your tribe? Brown Mamas host meetups to help you make mommy and community connections. From finding mom friends, to learning about spaces and places in Pittsburgh and making space for your to connect with your family and yourself, we have mom-only and family-friendly meetups.
When it’s time to take care of you, Brown Mamas has you covered. Offering virtual and in-person sessions, we keep moms, locally and nationally, centered and mindful. We host sessions focused on meditation, yoga, financial peace, skincare and sound healing each quarter that center the lived experiences of Black mothers.
African-American mothers take the stage to tell their most vulnerable stories around black motherhood in America. Our moms leave all of their mom guilt, co-parenting woes, funny stories about childbirth and more right on the floor of the stage. Their stories we uplift our crowd with parent-centered comedic acts, uplifting and empowering performances and awards recognizing the local champions of Black motherhood right in their own backyards.

In 2023 we will be focused on helping moms form authentic relationships and be mindfulness habits with our Brown Mamas’ Healing Circles. Utilizing the Brown Mama Mindset curriculum, we will offer drop-in support groups that focus on mindfulness, parenting principles and connection.
Brown Mamas is so grateful for our community partners. We are collaborating with Allegheny Health Network to ensure Black moms are represented at the 2023 Mother of All Baby Showers event. MOABS is a national event that will happen in Pittsburgh on July 26th at 5:30pm.
Join us for an afternoon of bowling, arcade games and laser tag at Zone 28 on Saturday, September 24th at 4pm. The purpose of Brown Mamas’ Meetups is to allow Black families to enjoy Pittsburgh as the nation’s most livable city and to gather under the banner of shared experiences, personal and professional development and positive, fun...
Each year Brown Mamas works with 6-8 Black mothers from across the country to craft their original stories about being a Black mother in America. Our moms go on to perform their stories on-stage at the Brown Mama Monologues. Prior to the show, our storytellers gather for healing and rehearsal.
