blog Got boys? Bathroom Smell Like Pee? Here’s How to Stop That.

My boys have made my bathroom smell like pee. The hooligans who live with me have taken over my bathroom and I officially have the boy’s bathroom smell embedded in my upstairs and downstairs bathrooms.  It’s drives me nuts!  I thought I’d gotten the smell out of my downstairs bathroom until my grandmother came to visit a few weeks ago and said my bathroom stank.  I’m trying to go the all-natural cleaning route with eradicating the pee smell from my bathroom and my grandmother gave me some cleaning tips.  She said I’d have to get down and dirty with that dirt.  So, here’s what she told me to do.

First you’ve got to make the ultimate pee-killing solution: Peroxide and Alcohol. AlcoholCleanBathroom_BrownMamas

Next, spray the peroxide and alcohol mix onto the affected area; which for me is the entire bathroom. Let it sit for about 2 minutes. (Any longer and it will dry up)  The peroxide will disinfect and the alcohol will cut the smell.

Now it’s time to get your new best bathroom buddy out: the Scrubber.  I got mines from the Dollar Store, but you should be able to get one from any store that sells cleaning products.  But, why pay more?  Take your butt to the dollar store.  Next scrub the affected area.BoysPeeintheBathroom_BrownMamas

After scrubbing, dilute the area with water and wipe it down. And to wrap it all up, spray some bleach on the affected area, wipe it down once more and Viola!  Your bathroom should now be piss free.

What happens many times is that while you’ve wiped away the piss, the smell of it gets ground into your toilet and surrounding area because the boys are peeing so often.  The alcohol and peroxide do the dual job of getting rid of the smell and getting rid of germs.

Hope that was effective for you mamas!  Do you have a home remedy you use for eradicating bad smells?  Post below, I love learning new stuff to help me get my #momlife!

  1. Great tips! Thankfully I only have one boy so the mess/smell is tolerable. But I will definitely be using this cleaning mixture on the next bathroom scrub LOL

This is so helpful! I thought I was the only one. I only have one son and is needed in my house. I’d probably add some purification essential oil mixed with water to add more freshness. Thanks!

Thanks for the tips! I’ve never heard to try a peroxide and alcohol mix. I’ve tried vinegar, bleach, Lysol, Tilex and I just can’t get rid of the smell. I also have a house full of boys!

Do you use equal parts of the two? I have 3 boys and a husband. It’s rank in that bathroom and I can’t ever get the smell out. I hate the smell of pee. 😔

I was researching the use of scrubbing bubbles and came across your page. Then clicked on this article about bathrooms too. Both are so helpful! Thanks for your website!
